I respectfully urge the City Council to seek alternatives to this desperate plan to allow the homeless to camp temporarily or permanently in our city's parks.

I have weekly playdates in Seattle parks with my kids. We use the playgrounds, wading pools, basketball courts, tracks, and green spaces. We rent the shelters for birthday parties and use the grills. We pick apples and blackberries in the parks. We hike, bird watch, and hunt for geocaches in the parks. Please don't allow our public spaces to become homeless encampments. Please don't condone or encourage these safe community spaces to transition into places that collect trash and waste, have groundwater and surface water contaminated, and be avoided by families. Help preserve our well used parks!

This is totally irresponsible of our representatives and you should not be in office if this is the BEST solution you could come up with.

This is a bad idea. They need roofs, not campsites.

Please do not go down this road. Build the necessary infrastructure as quickly as possible.

I am adamantly opposed to this proposal and would move out of Seattle if this happens.

It is the city council's duty and responsibility to draft legislation, and the function should NOT be given to special interest or advocacy groups. Members of the Council would never allow the Chamber of Commerce to draft legislation on business matters, so I am requesting the council to stop allowing special interests to run the city. I find this as repugnant as the NRA crafting common sense gun legislation. And quite frankly, you jackwagons are lucky the city (stupidly) adopted district representation, because if this is the way you plan to govern, I would vote against every single one of you dickheads.

We need to help the homeless but this is not a solution or band-aid..

I would support legislation intended to provide homes for the homeless. I would pay higher taxes to fund housing for the homeless. In fact, because I voted in favor of same, I am paying higher taxes to provide such housing. I will not support, however, and I will actively oppose, legislation that will not provide one homeless person with housing. Let's begin by identifying the problem. If the problem is homelessness, it stands to reason that the solution is to provide housing. What problem are we solving - specifically - by allowing homeless people to live in our parks? Whatever the answer, it's not the problem of homelessness.

This is scary and ridiculous! My kids and I will not be able to go to any parks, green areas, or enjoy Seattle. And you've already got a tourist issue at Pike Place Market; people are appalled by what they see down there at the park and beyond. Did you not learn anything from the Portland fiasco? If you vote for this, I can almost guarantee seattle home owners will be forced to sue for loss of property value and public places.

Parks are for recreation, letting our youth play, neighborhood / communitu pride and economic growth. They are not a band-aid fix for our homeless situation.

I believe we need a solution, but this bandaid proposal will only cost our city more money in the long run and not solve the problem of getting people off the streets. Please reconsider using our tax payer money, why cause an additional problem that we won't have money to fix?

I am 100% against letting anyone camp in our parks, school grounds and city parks. It's unsafe in so many ways. I live near the jungle and I on a daily basis, I have a direct experience with folks camping near by, please, please do not let this happen.
