Please keep our parks safe and clean for our children. This plan does not help homeless people attain housing or services they need to get back on their feet. Please consider the Port of Seattle proposal referenced on the NextDoor website.

There is a better solution to the homeless situation than this. The parks are for the enjoyment of everyone. Try going to Cal Anderson park where the homeless camp and sleep and leave needles on the playground. Nope. Address homelessness with sound policies on housing and drug addiction and well funded social programs.

Spreading the homeless in the city may seem like an inexpensive fix, but it will decrease the safety of our parks and neighborhoods. Without garbage collection and toilets its a disaster happening as we speak.
Create small housing areas where there are facilities, social workers, and the pissibility of work.
Only real solution.
The rest is begging for trouble. Only apparently cheap

I would rather see specific designated areas for homeless encampment with rules and regulations monitored by the UGM enabling the transition to housing and employment. Also, transitioning responsibility for policing and maintaining the encampment to promising residents with payment of benefits and small stipend put in an account for user when they get into housing.
DO NOT USE PARKS OR SIDEWALKS!! Designated areas only. Then a structure such as old shipping containers could be converted for more humane environment,in this rain soaked climate, until housing can be found or built.
We need to protect everyone, and scattering the problem through the city is not the answer. We need coordination, organization and a plan that moves us toward eliminating this problem, not just bandaid fixes.
I don't have all the answers, it's very complicated I know...but the decision to use parks and sidewalks, etc is not (my opinion) the right one!
Thank you for your time,

I'm not for camping in the parks and sidewalks. It's unsanitary and unsafe for the homeless, residents and anyone trying to use the parks that we pay for. Stop and desist!

Marshalling financial and community resources for permanent housing must be a priority. I am worried that sanitation and health concerns are not adequately addressed.

One wishes to be sympathetic to homeless people but when they are drug dealers, mentally ill, or for other reasons dangerous, it is absolutely wrong to allow them to live in public parks if they are--are they frequently are--a threat to the general populace.

Fire enabling advocates. Begin accountability. Arrest pushers. Enforce all laws. Stop the madness.

I am a single woman who lives right next to one of these parks. The rapes, thefts, and general crimes that happened in the jungle will now be 100 feet from my bedroom window. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look at Portland's attempt and learn.

Our parks should be safe for all people to attend. I don't feel letting people live there will create a safe environment.

I have an 8 and a 5 year old and I won't feel safe taking them to parks if there are homeless people camping. Is this what you envisioned with this proposal?

City government is failing and needs to grow up and make the hard decisions necessary to take the city back from people who do not care about anyone but themselves and their addiction. This city is becoming not only disgusting but a health hazard as well.

This will basically put the public parks, which we pay for, out of our use due to safety concerns. And the $250 fine paid to the homeless people will be abused. For sure.

Why don't all the people that support this take one homeless person in your house for 30 days and then let us know if you still feel the same about supporting just a crazy bill!
