Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

This should NEVER be enacted.

The proposal to allow people to camp on sidewalks and in parks makes no sense whatsoever.

This is ridiculous. Solve the problem, we have the worst city officials, and consistently the assessor's office, police, utilities, and social services in this fine city. We deserve better.

I appose Council Bill 118794 which would allow camping in over 5,200 acres of city parks throughout Seattle.

I am not a supporter of Donald Trump but this is exactly why he has the support he has. Why not put a few more million dollar toilets out there while we’re at it? What ever happened to the bone head who had that idea? Enough! Every city councilmember who backs Bill 118794 should lose their job and I hope their names are made public. Thank you Tim Burgess for showing some common sense!

I want real, sustainable solutions to our homelessness problem, but turning our parks into camp sites for any and everyone is a bad idea.

This crazy plan will provide housing for no one and will risk irreparable harm to what so many of us hold dear--our parks. No way!

Homeless people do not run our city - government and taxpayers do. Please stop the madness. Public spaces in Seattle are not campgrounds. 3rd and Denny is a very good example of bad behavior. We cannot give encampments several weeks notice they are illegally trespassing!

We live in Ballard and do not welcome the ordinance allowing homeless camping or infringing on the rights of neighbors who work to live in clean,drug free, neighborhoods where criminal activity should be enforced.

I used to enjoy walking on Magnolia Boulevard and in Discovery Park. I think we'd all agree we pay taxes to support the safety and upkeep of our neighborhoods. Moving the homeless onto our sidewalks and into our parks takes away the. very reason we live where we live. Other cities have managed this in far better ways. We need to take a page from their books and manage for the tax-paying homeowners first. We shouldn't have to worry about being accosted walking back and forth to our cars. If the city council and the mayor think this is a good solution I invite them to have the first encampments in front of their own homes.

Do not allow this camping in parks, planting strips, in front of houses, or anywhere. Have you all lost your minds? Do you want them in your yard?

I'll forward this to Q13's David Rose. He seems to be a HUGE advocate for the homeless takeover.

I adamantly oppose allowing homeless people taking over the parks, playgrounds and ball fields where my children play. It is irresponsible, dangerous and infringes on my family's right to peace and safety on public property.

Make them choose the only option, live on a remote island where they have to get clean and struggle To survive with nothing. Similar to the show Alone.

This proposal is preposterous. Our parks will be overrun. Seattle's parks are too valuable to let this happen. Homelessness is a problem, and compassionate attention is warranted and needed, but this is not any kind of solution. I really can't believe that this idea was seriously proposed and, worse, has made it to this point. It is meritless.

This proposal is disgraceful, not a solution but making the homeless problem worse.

No. Just no. This problem is out of control, people need to stop encouraging transients to hang out here - this is worse than Boston & NYC combined.

Please keep this out of our parks!
