Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Please find a better alternative for all of our citizens. No one should be sleeping on the streets.

These are our park's we pay a lot in Property Taxes ,the Homeless do not!!! we do that for our ability to enjoy our public parks and spaces not to create housing for near do well's to come and enjoy PC correct BS foisted upon us about helping these Scumbag's!!!!

Do not pass this, a similar measure in Portland was a disaster. Do not give rights to local parks to visitors to the neighborhood, do not embolden them. This is not the way to show compassion.

This is not a good solution to Seattle's homeless situation.

THIS IS HORRIBLE! I'VE ALL OR HELPING THE HOMELESS IN WAYS THAT MAKE SENSE, BUT THIS IS WRONG FOR A LOT OF REASONS! THE PARKS BELONG TO THE PEOPLE, THAT USE IT IN A NORMAL WAY, AND THIS PLAN WOULD ONLY RUIN AND DESTROY THE PARKS FOR EVERYONE. IT WOULD ALSO BE A DANGEROUS PLACE TO ENJOY ANYMORE, WITH DRUGS, AND CRIMINAL ISSUES ETC. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS MAYOR WOULD EVER BRING UP AN IDEA LIKE THIS, WHICH IS CRAZY. THIS WAS TRIED IN PORTLAND OR, AND FAILED TOTALLY, SO THEY YANKED IT, SO WHY CAN'T OUR CITY LEADERS SEE THAT THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN HERE.

Allowing camping in the parks is not safe for anyone, not the campers nor the recreationists. It is also not environmentally sound to allow a practice that would allow tons of garbage and threaten our parks with fire as campers do what they can to stay warm. Camping in green belts would be too far from services that would keep all people and the parks safe. Incredibly bad idea.

Do not approve CB 118794. This is poor public policy that caters to small interest groups at the expense of the broader public good.

You must take more time to consider this legislation. So much goes through the "process" but this huge effort happens in a month?

Find one designated large location and facility for all 'homeless campers'. Maybe in the Duwamish area. Or, consider a mothballed cruise ship.

I agree, this is irresponsible. If it has been tried and has failed other places, what gives you through idea it would be any different here?

Let's not forget what our parks were originally intended for. To even think that someday we would have people living in tents in our parks makes me sick. It's no place for a camp. The parks are meant for our children to enjoy for years to come and not meant to be a waste site for trash, drugs and crime. I've enjoyed walking through Fauntleroy park with my family for years and have always stressed how important it is to keep our parks clean for everyone to enjoy. Please do the right thing and don't make parks a thing of the past. Best regards Shane

Do not let this happen. This is just adding so much frustration to the residents of Seattle. The homeless population is growing in the city and the decisions that have been made up to this point by the elected officials in the city have made the problem worse. I think the biggest issue I have is that the residents do not get the respect they deserve. The unprecedented access that special interest groups have been given to make policy is outrageous. The rights of the property owners, renters etc. are not being recognized. I am all for helping the homeless, but not at the way the city leaders are going about it. This is crazy.

This is the most insane idea from the City of Seattle that I have heard of. I am not allowed to park my vehicle in front of my house for more than 72 hours on a public street without fear of being towed, but they want to allow people to camp, trash, harass and take drugs in public parks with young families in the midst? Ridiculous! Why are we catering to the lowest of society? Time to grow some balls, Seattle. Do not let these people overrun our beautiful (once beautiful) city.

I would like to tell the City Council to stop this Homelessness inclusiveness these people need to get off their asses and get to work and the Council should stop inviting them here with services Roll the Welcome mat back Quit turning Seattle into a Garbage dump with near do well's camping everywhere I've called the police 3 times now where I had these people hanging around my yard I don't feel safe on my own property and these guy's thumb there nose at me when I ask them "to get off my private property as though they can do what ever they want hey move them to Mayor Murray's neighborhood see how he like's it!!!!

I am absolutely against using our parks for the homeless!!

It is the quintessential definition of human cruelty to allow people to perpetuate an existence now haplessly defined as "homeless". To paraphrase a truly great leader..."Mr. Murry-Chev tear down these tarps..."
