Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

This approach will turn our beautiful parks into the next "jungle".

We need a solution, but this is not it.

The plan to allow camping in seattle parks and green belts is not a solution to homelessness. It will create new problems and take our green spaces away from Seattle residents and create public health and safety issues.

The city is turning into sewer letting the homeless park where ever they please.... You tourist revue is going to go away. People from out of state will spend their money at cleaner and safer places... this is a failed plan

I support efforts to address homelessness. I do not believe it should be criminalized. That does not then mean it's sustainable or safe to legalize and protect homeless camping in our parks. I have volunteered and cleaned up former homeless camps. These are hazardous wastelands that have no processes or facilities in place to handle not only gross, but often dangerous waste. It is criminal to even suggest that we should protect the rights of some to create dangerous environments for our citizens let alone our children. Anyone who feels this is acceptable has never visited a site after prolonged use by the homeless population. Please take the time to evaluate true sustainable options to help our homeless population get the housing and help they need. Camping in public spaces is not a safe or viable option.

It is unsettling how unsafe our parks have become due to homeless camping. I know longer feel it is safe for my children to go to the park without an adult chaperone due to the human trafficking & drug and alcohol abuse that is all right out in the open. When did this become ok????? I have lived in the NW my entire life an in the City of Seattle for the last 25 years. I do not feel safe and allowing this to continue is unacceptable. It has not been legal to be in most of our parks past dusk so why change the rules now?? I realize there are huge problems we need to deal with - homelessness and illegal drug activity but this is NOT the answer. Please vote NO!!

Our city leaders not only seem to be unable to come up with a real homeless solution, we are now advertising for people to come to our city and be supported to live for free. This is only compounding the problem.

Thus is NOT a viable solution. We have a real problem, we need real solutions.

I do not agree with this bill and it does not help homeless people. It does take away our football, baseball, soccer, and other sporting fields a d parks from our children. This is not fair to our kids or our neighborhoods.

Just because people already camp in our parks does not mean we should make it legal to do so.

This will ruin our city!

Homeless people need our help and attention, but allowing camping in public spaces, parks, etc is not an acceptable solution. It is lazy, unsafe, and short sighted.

Using parks for homelessness is a lose/lose proposition. It's scary the majority of the City Council wants this. This CANNOT happen.
