Last night I was watching the show RudeTube on channel 4. The show was taking video clips of supposedly funny animal moments and making a countdown list of them. Although, many were entertaining video clips of domesticated pets, some were of wild animals that were being kept in captivity. Two of which was a dancing bear with the hula-hoop and a monkey on a lead using a vending machine. Anyone with even an untrained eye could see these two animals were entertaining for their captors, rather than doing something spontaneously. These types of videos should not be put on TV and promoted as entertainment. These animals were trained to do this purely for entertainment, which should be considered as animal cruelty.

These clips should not be put in the same category as funny cat and dog moments. More to the point should not be put on TV. Furthermore, making a choice to watch a video on the internet is one thing, but having these types of videos taken from the internet and put into a list for entertainment is unacceptable.

The producers of Rude Tube really need to be more aware of what they promote as entertainment. These clips may be in order of how many views they get online. However, this does not mean it should be accepted as being right.

If you feel the same about these video clips or this type of animal cruelty please sign this petition.
