We moved my family from Austin, Texas to Riverstone, specifically for the so called exemplary schools that we would be zoned to. When we were house shopping we never had any plans to spend as much money as we did for our house, but found that if we wanted to be zoned to an exemplary school that we had to significantly increase the amount that we wanted to spend. We want the best education that we could provide for our children, so we decided to bite the bullet and shovel out an extra $100k+ for our home so they could go to the best schools. It was more than upsetting and disappointing when we found out that fbisd is rezoning and our community was one that will be effected. We felt that we were cheated by the developers and the sales people who sold is our home raving about the schools we would be zoned to.

All,
Everyone in this forum please go ahead and voice the opinion in the official websit of fbisd also (if not already done) to make sure that this is registered to the fbisd folks who are asking for feedback:
http://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/1224
Please hear out the mp3 especially the section which talks about Elkins and Clements/Elkins alternative.
Then go in and fill the online questionnaire and vote for Clements / Elkins Alternative as strongly agree with reasons.
Also preferable to vote one more time in the questionnaire against Elkins as strongly disagree with certain reasons.
This will make sure that we are riasing voice from all possible means including the official channels.

Hello all
I know we all bought because of good schools and developer and builders sold us that way. But remember they will simply wash their hands saying we didn't assure you its going to be the same. We don't have any control over it. Let's try this petition. If it doesn't work, we have to take different strategy by going against the developers and builders, they will jump in the game. We will use that arsenal next if it doesn't work.
Don't worry, we will not give up our rights when we paid high cost to get it at the first place.

Don't cheat us from buying high premium price house and turn around and move us to First Colony. We would not have move from 290 to Riverstone if it wasn't for Commonwealth and Fort Settlement!!!!!

We would not have bought the house if we have known this. Fort settlement is how we were talked into buying this house. This is cheating if this changes.

The petition needs to be clarified. The older. established part of Riverstone already goes to FCMS. The actual issue is that the newer part of Riverstone be allowed to go to FSMS.
Now for my opinion, and this will make some of you mad:
1. The Developer, while greedy, did not lie/fib/misrepresent anything. In Texas, with no planning commissions, there is no requirement for the developers and school district to work together. Frequently, the school districts are playing catch up. A lawsuit would be useless. There is no such thing as "cheating." You can say the developer got greedy by building so many homes and two apartment complexes, but in no way is it a breach of contract. Read your closing papers carefully, school boundaries are set by the district, not the developer.
2. Please do not disrespect First Colony Middle School, its students, its parents, and its teachers when signing the petition. It is an older building than FSMS, but it is not a "bad" school as some have stated. The entire "older" and "established" part of Riverstone is zoned to FCMS. Many of those parents who live in this section are livid at the tone some of us "newcomers" have taken towards FCMS, as such, they may not throw any support towards the "alternate" plans Please take this into account when submitting your responses. If I was a board member who lived in FCMS area, what incentive do I have to support the alternate plan when you are disrespecting my neighborhood school?
I realize that emotions are running high, but we need to look at this with as much logic as possible, and not inadvertently annoy or disrespect our neighbors.

one of the reason to oppose first colony feeder plan is the plan will increase local traffic and extra 15 to 20 minutes for riverstone parents to drop and pick up kids.
fort settlement will be more nature, as we majority of us already communite to work place through university blvd to us 59.
this is another reason we can put in FBISD zoning survey.

We also moved to be able to attend fort settlement. My kids have already left their friends once (admittedly our choice) but I hope they do not have to move again. Everyone in the newest sections of riverstone has recently moved. Why should we have to move again?! Not fair!
