Stop requiring MCAD residents to purchase $600 cafe cards

Yeah, no thanks chief. I'm 20 years old. This isn't high school anymore. You can make suggestions but don't try to make me pay $600 for a "healthy food" program. If i want to corrupt my diet with fries, let me! I'm an adult.

This is an absurd request for students living in dorms. The very foundation of the mcad dorms being in apartments is to learn how to live independently as an artist. Requiring students to have a $600 card for a cafe is condescending and contradictory from the basis of apartment living. Do not add this unnecessary expense to their already overpriced apartment and education.

600 is a bit much for 1 semester! I strongly believe this should be optional !

Comming from someone that has never eaten from the school cafeteria en his life, i think it is an overpriced service for something of basic need

If I was willing to spend 600 dollars a semester eating at the MCAD cafe I would already be doing that. I don't see how requiring students to spend 600 dollars promotes healthy eating anymore than having the bistro be open-- by making us feel like we're wasting money if we don't eat exclusively on campus? I know for sure that I am going to forget to use this plan throughout the semester and instead end up trying to drain the funds at the end of the year.

For the amount of money my student is paying for this school, meals should be provided. This seems like a scheme to squeeze more money out of the students. Very disappointing.

Why do you insist students go to this bistro instead of cooking their own meal, which in itself is a life lesson. Sounds a little like your school is forcing it down their throat, not a good idea.

Having on-campus students be required to pay for a several hundred dollar meal plan is completely inconsiderate of student financial situations. Eating healthy is important of course, but we are adults and should be trusted to choose whether a meal plan is best for us or not without having to prove it in writing. This is not an expense many students can afford especially during a time like this.

Students deserve the freedom to make their own food choices, based on their eating needs and cravings that may have. And not feel trapped and focused to pay and eat food that... 1) Don't want. 2) Don't like. 3) Forced to contribute to.

We shouldnt need to pay for a meal plan. Its cheaper just to buy our own groceries

I'd like if it was optional. We have kitchens and stuff for a reason, I agree that more can trips would be better.

There's nothing wrong with having a meal plan, but it's unreasonable to have everyone on campus be required to use it. Please make this optional!!!
