Stop removing prescription insurance coverage for state employees hired before July of 2011

As a disability retiree prior to 2011 and on a lot of medication; adopting thus petition is crucial for me.

We were promised this benefit when we signed on at UMD. Keep your promises. My family and I depend on expensive medications that we have earned coverage for.

40 years I have worked for UMD with 18 months of sick leave that I will never use and lose. I have given to the State and the State can at least keep its promise for a prescription plan.

Keep prescription coverage for all retirees.

Please restore the benefit that we all earned while working for the State of Maryland. It is unethical to remove it as it was a promise/contract.

I retired from the state of MD in 2009 with 13 years and 2 Military= 15 years of service. When I was hired we were promised that we would have insurance and prescription drug coverage upon retirement. I am 76 years old and depend on the states drug coverage. Please vote to keep our coverage. Start this idea with new hires or anyone hired after 2011. Than you!!

We were promised with insurance and prescription coverage when we retired. I started with the State of Md. in 1996 and retire April 1st, 25 with 27 years and 8 months as a Captain in Corrections. It is sad that O'Malley did this to us. How about taking benefits off of Govenor's, Senators and other members of Congress instead of giving them raises!

Abandoning retirees is no way to save money. Maryland can do better.

I still have several years until I retire, but I started with the state in 2000. You don’t take this job for the money, but knowing you had good benefits, when you retire made up for it! If they want to do this, it should be for new hires and make it known to those new hires

We worked and are working all those years thinking we would get the rx plan at the end of our careers at lower salaries no raises for years then rx taken away.

My husband worked for 22 years in prison to receive these benefits. How unethical to cheat him out of this in his retirement.

As a 2022 retired MDH employee hired in 77 I worked through health emergencies including AIDS, MRSA and COVID dealing with our healthcare facilities I implore the legislature to vote for continuing the prescription drug plan for retirees hired before 2011 .

Please reinstate State Employees RX benefits that we were promised at the time of retirement. We didn’t make lots of money but we did have good benefits, (that’s what kept us there) and now you are allowing them to take some of those away.

This is a deplorable and unethical practice. Please stop it.

Viable options DO exist to both enhance the State’s standing with rating agencies and continue retirees’ promised prescription coverage. 74.3% of State retirees live in Maryland and live in your districts. They spend their $3.5B in annual pension benefits in your districts. And they and their concerned friends and family members vote in your districts.

Legislators: please show your support for your 53,000+ constituents who would be negatively impacted by the removal of earned retiree Rx benefit. We are the hard-working retirees who gave our careers to serve the citizens of Maryland.
