Developers, please stop releasing copied and boring FPS.

Here are some points to consider:



1.Weapon carry limit.

We are tired of the same old "Press [Button] to switch weapons" . We don't want to switch weapons. We want to choose what weapon we use for each situation, not let the design choose for us.

I know it's hard work to level design areas with ammo pickups and weapons pickups, but that's why you get paid for.


Retarded scenarios caused by this :

a) We want to use a shotgun, we arrive in a level in which the designers chose for us to use only machine guns. We can't find shotgun ammo at all. We are forced to switch to the machine gun to progress.

b) We arrive at the boss. The boss is susceptible to explosives. The boss area is LITTERED with rockets and bazookas, to get arround the limitation of the system


2. Realistic weapons copied of the gun model wiki

We are tired about the same old Ak47 and MP5. We know how a glock looks like. We don't need to see it in EVERY FPS constantly. Be creative, it's not hard, that's why you are game developers.


3. Iron sights

You created a beautiful environment. We want to enjoy the environment even during combat, not see it through a FOV 30 half the game.


4. Realistic setting

We are tired of the same old realistic crap. If we want that we turn on the TV on CNN. We are tired of the same hummer model, the same gun models, the same military outfit models. Be creative, don't use realism as an excuse for a lack of imagination.


5. Team based single player

We don't want to baby sit stupid AIs that make us lose the mission when they die. We don't want "protect the objective" missions with a timer. They are lame and boring, they add no value to the game, just make it tedious. We don't want to babysit AI teammates the entire game, we want to be free to explore and play the way we want.


6. Small number of weapons

News flash - making the weapon roster like this:

1. fists 2. knife 3. pistol 4. dual pistol 5. shotgun 6. machinegun 7. grenade 8. wire cutters 9. dual machineguns 10. bazooka

does NOT mean you have 10 weapons. It means you have 4, and that's being lenient.

Stop being lazy and stop spreading the same 3 boring weapons over the entire inventory. We don't need 4 types of machineguns that have the same effect. We don't need different weapon slots for fists, knives, grenades. Pistol and Dual pistols are NOT DIFFERENT WEAPONS.

Nobody is going to use the fist if they have a knive. Nobody is going to use the pistol if they have two pistols.

Stop making us play through the entire game with only one weapon.

Be creative, make weapons that are different and they can all be used throughout the game and serve a purpose.

BE CREATIVE, stop doing this, it's insulting to the player.


7. Cover system

Our legs are getting atrophied. Our backs hurt for having to crouch under blocks of concrete and desks 90% of the game. We want to be free, move, jump arround, get some exercise in combat.

The cover system is not fun. It's boring. It slows down the gameplay and it makes it repetitive. It is NOT FUN to play an 8 hour single player campaign in which 6 hours were spent shooting from behind the sofa.


8. Forced melee combat


Please, stop forcing us to use melee kills. If you want to show off the melee kill cutscenes, do a 3rd person hack game.

It's a FP-S- from shooter. We don't want to kill enemies up close with cutscenes. We want to shoot them. We don't want to be forced by design to use melee which usually turns out more effective than a weapon.

Retarded scenarios caused by this:

a) Enemies don't die from a shotgun blast to the face, they just get stunned and you need to punch them to kill them. Really?

b) Ammo is scarce and inexistent, this way game design forces you to use melee. Wrong, it's an insult to the player and a slap to the face.


9. Action cutscenes.

This is a game. It's not a movie.We don't want to shoot our way through 200 enemies only to watch a cutscene at the end where we get bludgeoned to the head from arround the corner by some forgotten soldier.

How it looks to us when you do this:

"No player is stupid enough to fall for this, so we just force them with a cutscene"

It's an insult and a shame.


In conclusion, if you could just stop doing the above things and BE CREATIVE and ORIGINAL, you could revive the FPS genre as it used to be when it was fun.
