Our son just started 9th grade and is having an amazing experience with the band at JHS. The increased time and distance will create a situation for hardship to continue at WHS, this is so disappointing. We moved into Sheridan Estates because of the zoning for Shipley; HFMS AND JHS.

If a student is currently in a HS, allow that student to stay at that HS if they wish.

I don't think hidden river sub division should switch. It's closer to JHS then WHS. And there really isn't many kids here.

I have 3 kids at Jefferson, one of them will be a senior next year, meaning I will have 3 kids at 2 different high schools? Not to mention Washington doesn't have the same clubs and extracurricular activities Jefferson has, so future college applicants should be prepared to give up whatever clubs or teams they've become a part of and find something new to avoid inferior college apps. Washington is also much farther, so unless JCPS plans to pay mileage and reimburse gas costs for me to run between the 2 every time my kids have a doctors appointment or god forbid there's a family emergency, this is completely insane and I will object to this beginning next year. JCPS has incredibly poor planning skills. They've known about the overcrowding problem for 3 years now. This is the second redistricting in 5 years. I think kids already in Jeff or Wash should be allowed to stay and new freshmen should be the first class to redistrict. This would decrease disruption of course planning and college applications, and relieve some stress on those that would face a new school 2 years in a row, which is equivalent to a military family which not everyone signs up for. It is irresponsible and disruptive to plan it this way in the middle of the year. They should've thought of that and planned long term, instead we have a last minute mad dash sure to wreak havoc.

My son is in kindergarten. This has nothing to do with the high school that he will go to. He will go to Jefferson regardless if they redistrict him now. They want to bust him halfway across the county to an elementary school that is at least 10 miles from our home instead of the school that is 2 miles away. It doesn't make any sense.

It's sad to see so many people complaining about not seeing their friends when so many of them have their face glued to their phones. If you want to talk to your friends you have SO many ways of doing it. Jefferson high school is very overcrowded. A redistrict needs to happen. This isnt about seperating you from your friends. Feelings get hurt, you'll get over it.

yall really dont realize how this is affecting people !! I will literally lose so many relationships with people and its sad that you have no sympathy. do you know how many kids at jhigh dont care about the overpopulation?? literally nobody cares. and my sister whos gonna be a senior is gonna be staying, while ill be going to Washington. its common sense to let us stay together. just let the students pick where they wanna go. this is straight up dumb. hope y'all enjoy my depression. i aint ever forgiving yall for this selfish bs. think about the kids-please.

This will be dangerous. Going from Breckenridge/Beal Air to Jefferson is 3 miles and 7 minutes on back roads. Going to Washington means 7 miles and 14 minutes (with no traffic) but worse yet, past a blind RR track crossing and a right hand turn at one of the worst intersections in the county. For buses and new drivers, this could prove tragic. How many fatalities will it take to realize this was a dumb idea?

This kind of stinks but besides building more schools (don't see that happening anytime soon) & REALLY cracking down on families that transfers their student to another school for reasons other than ROTC, behavior or special needs this seEm's to be the answer. Life isn't fair. Teach our students now so they don't need safe spaces with coloring books and play dough in college.
