Deep East Oakland will be affected by a proposed Train relocation. Amtrak is planning to move its trains from its existing tracks in Sobrante Park to tracks owned by Union Pacific. This change will bring noise, pollution, and traffic back-ups at the street crossings. All of this will only save Amtrak 13 minutes. This short amount of time is not worth the decline in quality of life that all people and businesses along the rail will feel!
The deadline for the first public comment is August 13, 2020.
Stand in solidarity Sogorea Te' Land Trust, Brower- Dellums Institute, Planting Justice, and others to demand concessions that will help the people they are affecting. Show support for the community along the rail and spread the petition!

This proposed route disproportionately impacts BIPOC and, as another signer named, is a prime example of environmental racism. Work with and for the communities around you whom you would be directly impacting; modify your plan in direct collaboration with Sogorea Te' Land Trust, Brower- Dellums Institute, and Planting Justice.
