Stop Racially Motivated Police Brutality.
“In a society that privileges white people and whiteness, racist ideas are considered normal throughout our media, culture, social systems, and institutions. Historically, racist views justified the unfair treatment and oppression of people of color”. For hundreds of years now millions of people have been treated unfairly and unjustly because of the color of their skin, the way they look, what groups of people they hangout with and even where they live. There's been people enslaved, kidnapped, people being falsely accused of things they didn’t do, difficulty with people getting jobs and houses, murders, people put in jail for the rest of their lives because no one would believe them all because of the color of their skin.African Americans as well as several other groups of people of all ages, classes, and genders have been subjected to police brutality. “From 2009-2012 across 17 U.S. States there were 812 reported cases of lethal police force being used. Victims were 52% white and 32% black with a fatality rate of 2.8 times higher among blacks than whites. 83% of victims were reported to be armed, however black victims were more likely to be unarmed at 14.8% than white at 9.4%.”(National Library Of Medicine) Although racism is a huge problem everywhere, I feel it is a much bigger issue with our police forces.
