Stop Quest to Ralph Williams Elementary rezoning

We live in Strom Park & want our children next year to go to Quest. There is no reason to rezone Parts of Strom to another school when there is one across the street!

This is some serious elitist nonsense I'm reading here. I live within the "Viera" zip code and CHOOSE to send my child to Ralph Williams instead of Manatee. Williams is a lovely school with wonderful staff who care about ALL children and their education, not just those from the more privileged zip code. Diversity is not a disease. I too oppose the change in boundaries....I too believe Viera poorly planned for this inevitability....but let's think about and discuss how to make our whole community part of the solution instead of drawing lines and declaring zip code superiority.

Just bought a house in a community (Sandhill Crossing) specifically to keep my son at Quest. My son is devastated that he may have to change schools. :-(

I have kida at Ralph Williams and do not feel adding over 100 kids to our school will benefit our children. We have a small community school where our kids can get a very personalized school experience and education. Bringing in kids is not the answer to poor planning and budgeting of new schools.

Viera is a master PLANNED community....growth did not happen over night. Schools and education should be priority and at the forefront of this growth....not an after thought. Do not remove existing students from their school. Accelerate the building of new schools and do not keep moving boundaries.

I feel quest is a better school the RE. I feel that my daughter deserves the best not just good enough.

We purchased our house specifically for Quest and propose alternative solutions to solve school challenges, such as, tax to increase funds, temporary buildings etc. If rezoning is the only option, homes closer to Rockledge should go first.

Couldn't agree with this more. We bought here for the exact same reasons. If we wanted RW, we would of bought in Rockledge.

Our subdivision is scheduled to be rezoned from Quest Elementary to Ralph Williams which is located in Rocklege. We are trying to stop this rezoning as it will not benefit our kids at all to have them attending a school well out of our community. Our subdivision has been zoned for Quest since it's opening. With the fast growth rate in Viera we need to find a better alternative for new families and prevent our school becoming over-crowded. So let's try to not have this move and upset the flow of our kids going to their local assigned schools which presents a normal transition from elementary, middle and high school. We need to keep our kids at our local schools that we have history and a relationship with for so many years. We the residents of San Marino Estates, call upon the Brevard County School Board to stop the rezoning of our neighborhood from Quest Elementary School to R. Willams School. We request our zoning for elementary grades remain at Quest Elementary. We also request to be grandfathered in for all schools that we are currently assigned. Thank you.

At a recent school board meeting, Viera High School principal, Mr. Alba thanked the audience for “entrusting [our] kids with Viera schools”. I appreciated that comment and is very much relevant here in that - when anyone makes a decision on where to live/ purchase a home, it is in large part because of a conscious choice to “entrust” one’s children to attend a particular school. Whether it is safety, academics, and/or culture of the school it is very much a determining factor in where to live. Almost four years ago, we made a conscious decision when we moved to Melbourne to live in a location where our kids could attend Quest Elementary and Viera schools. Dr. Blackburn called upon the town members in the board meeting to “let us know where our perceived strengths are potential weaknesses”. The proposed redistricting of elementary and middle schools is not only a clear weakness in planning, but a potentially devastating impact to families who made conscious decisions to live in a particular area based on the assumption their kids would be attending certain schools. Many times, these same families are paying more money for their homes to live in these defined areas. To put an asterisk on current zoning lines and then state that it will be reevaluated every year - quite frankly is a suspiciously convenient, easy solution to poor foresight and subsequent management of accelerated growth. Families having to worry about their kids ripped out of schools where they are academically and socially exceling is about as un-American a process or mandate that appears to NOT be in the best interest of our children; rather, it appears to be one based on reviewing analytical data and checking boxes on a spreadsheet. Bottom line, this systematic failure in the current zoning practices, at the very least, creates paranoia and lack of trust in wanting to invest in certain neighborhoods with the constant, looming potential of having your family life severely disrupted.

Ralph Williams is not accessible from Pinehurst/Wickham for us, only Viera Blvd. Viera Blvd. is to be widened. We do not have a traffic light at Holiday Springs and Viera at this time, and have had numerous accidents at that intersection. We do need 95+ kids and parents traveling this high risk road.

Please do not rezone to Raulph Williams. My son has been going to Quest for 6 years and I want his final year to be in the same school.
