DNR has ruined too many good fisherman with their enforcement of bullshit regulations that do nothing to save the peoples' natural resources.
Clearly their excessive fines on people have given them money to blow. A million is a lot of $ for that lot.
I don't see where the DNR gives a damn about individual rights or cares about over exposing a neighborhood with their unwanted plan.

In a time of budget shortfalls, "our" money could be put to better use. I'm sure the current owner would disagree....what a sweet deal for him/her. Why the huge premium? Where are the environmental and traffic studies? Why were other property owners just made aware of this? Why does it seem the DNR is in such a hurry to get this done? Why??

There is no need for an additional boat ramp at this site-the amount of silt that is currently generated in the lake is excessive.

This is clearly a backroom deal cooked between the State delegation and TNA/ Mr. Heubner. The process which is in plan-- review by the County and by the Policy and Review Board has been completely circumvented. Unfortunately once the BPW voles to allocation funds it is a done deal, except for the signing of the contract. This motivated community must fight this-- if nothing else to ensure that another parcel and insider developers' land elsewhere is next. A million dollars could make a real impact on sediment removal or invasive species control-- but we are told the state doesn't have funds to restore the lake..

Opposed to this plan for state to purchase private owned land for the purpose stated. Ridiculous. Deep Creek Lake State Park serves this need fully and has extensive capacity and services. The proposed area is a private residence area and totally not suited for this plan. The plan will ruin the harmony of the area, the environment and is not consistent with DNR lake mgmt. policy. It will cause devaluation of property for owner and should it happen opens the door to further expansion of useless and un-needed services in this area of the lake. Do not let this happen.

I oppose this project! We need to keep the DNR from purchasing the peninsula between Ezra Savage Road and Yacht Club Road at Deep Creek Lake and making it a public access site!

I like the idea of having another public boat launch on Deep Creek Lake if DNR can keep the construction costs down and user access fees low. Besides the current State Park public access/boat launch, the only way now that I know of for a temporary “day” power boater to have launch access is to rent a condo at the Willow of the Wisp which includes use of their (narrow, steep & unregulated) boat ramp. It's not like the old days of Deep Creek Lake when you could go to any marina on the lake, pay a fee to launch your boat including parking your trailer and vehicle for the day. DNR has also banned all lakefront property owners from launching power boats at their private property. Even very gently sloped lakefront lots as you can find along most tributary coves around the lake have been included in the ban. Such locations were used for decades prior to the ban.
I do support the government thinking as sound but it simply focuses at the wrong end of the lake. The main problem with a Turkey Neck location has already been stated by others but I will add that shallow waters during Lake Drawdown periods will have a negative effect to the public and greatly impact wildlife. Also, as a frequent boat trailer user, I do not want to drive all the way around the lake and on windy roads to get to and from a DNR approved and controlled boat launch site. Just driving your vehicle while towing a boat trailer to the current State Park launch is a huge challenge. The windy State Park and Rock Lodge roads with pedestrians and cyclist sometimes sharing the road have a high potential for accidents to occur. No one in their right mind wants to see that duplicated at Turkey Neck.
A much better solution for an additional public access/boat launch and parking area is at the opposite end of the lake. I'm promoting to change the proposed public access/boat launch site to another location before it’s too late. I submit that it should be constructed at the breast of the lake by the earthen da

This entire plan is ill-conceived and troubling. Why would the state pay a premium price for this property with the intention of creating a unnecessary public park in the midst of a residential neighborhood without public input on the proposal?
