Students that are blind or visually impaired take state tests that are produced in large print on very long paper. This is not appropriate for elementary school students because the length of the paper is cumbersome for page turning and if a student needs to get close to the print, the test has to be rolled under the desk so the student can see the top of the page. For older students who are very concerned about standing out, appreciate the large print but find the size of the paper one more reason for feeling uncomfortable in front of their peers. The large print tests need to be produced on 8.5"x11" paper to accommodate all our students' needs.
