We, the undersigned, do NOT agree with the Oak Bluffs Board of Selectmen who have decided on an action that will change things for the residents and vistors of Eastville Beach: a commerical Oyster farming operation with 50-100 bouy-marked oyster cages. These cages will need to cleaned continuously and maintance is needed from a permently-moored work barge. This operation will be in waters just 300 feet from the shoreline of Easville Beachon Beach Road in Oak Bluffs.
We are asking that the Selectmen reconsider their initail approval of this operation. Going through with this creates more concerns about the environmetal and navigational impact of the proposed commercial operation on the unspolied beach enjoyed by local residents and neighbors for recreation, swimming, windsurfing, boating and sailing.
The issues that resulted in a full defeat of the Lagoon proposal by the Selecten are even more relevant in the open waters of Eastville Beach.
Please join us and help us stop the Selectmen with going forward with the placement of these oyster farms and save the waters' of the Vineyard Sound
