Stop Overdevelopment in Sussex Weald: Protect Our Communities, Services & Green Spaces

The government's standard method of the so called objectively assessed local housing need is a complete misnomer. The result is a large number of houses which certainly has not been objectively assessed, it is not local and doesn't represent any need other than the governments chase for growth, aka countryside destruction.

Over development for the sake of greed. No holistic considerations. We need farms for food, a good environment to support the farms and keep us healthy, and a sensible infrastructure through consultation with local residents

Over development must stop

It is important to develop a housing strategy with 100% affordable housing, council housing is essential for local people . Their housing needs are important and where new development takes place green infrstructure must not be inteferred with or felled .

Wealden is choking with all of this housing development. Please stop it.

All the overdevelopment and destruction of the countryside must stop before it’s too late

Enough! No consideration of environment, resources, infrastructure sustainability

This is over development considering the amount of development WDC has already given permission to build. 8000 is it?

We must stand together on this destruction.

We cannot sustain this number of new builds without vastly increasing roads schools doctors et al

The over development is destroying the amazing villages and countryside of the Weald.

Please consider our ancient woodlands and the preservation of country life. We do not have the infrastructure to support the continual development of new housing estates. This short sighted quick win is depriving everyone of our natural outstanding beauty.

Our countryside is slowly dissappearing to cater for a massive uncalled for population explosion. I have yet to see a truly affordable house built by one of these so called developers. They are the new Leeches on society after your money , mostly for mostly for substandard houses.

Not everyone wants to live in towns - please respect rural communities’ individuality and stop overdeveloping green spaces.

I understand the need for housing but Wealden, and in particular the Hellingly area has seen a huge growth in housing estates virtually destroying the rural landscape. The roads and infrastructure are not in place to deal with the current demand let alone any future developments.

Our beautiful rural countryside is being stolen from us and turned into ugly urban sprawl. Once gone, it’s lost forever.

Enough is enough. Leave our green belt alone. We have a right to breath fresh air and help our wellbeing. There is no infrastructure in place. Not enough water or doctors. Traffic increase which results in pollution. Government are all a bunch of hypocrites.

Development all across the countryside of the Low Weald and A21 seems to be intent on creating a mass metropolis of this beautiful countryside which is key to well being & tourism in this part of East Sussex. Development is sprawling from Lewes to Eastbourne, threatening Downland villages, extending all around Uckfield, Hailsham, Polegate. A new town at Halland/ Laughton & another still mooted for Upper Dicker will trigger yet more road building across remaining green fields. The South East is the most densely populated part of the UK already. This development is unsustainable & we need retrospective development of high streets & brownfield sites building upwards into flats not outwards for houses, to provide affordable homes for young people.
