The already over taxed salaried class is squeezed enough by paying direct & indirect taxes, without getting any benefits in return. There is less than 1% people in the country who pay their income tax - resulting in getting over burdened by paying share of the non-tax payers.

The Govt must widen the base and lower tax rate to encourage tax culture. Now there is discussion on the cards to further increase the tax rate in the current Budget - which in turn will haunt the salaried class the most, due to tax deduction at source – at the cost of Govt's inefficiency to collect from those who have been evading taxes all along. The Govt must introduce tax culture and start an awareness campaign to promote friendly tax mechanism & expand the current tax net. It must also ensure benefits in terms of providing quality education, basic health facility and safety / security to the tax paying citizens - so people get confidence on the utilization of their tax money.

Charter of Demand:

The Tax rate to be brought down to 15% of the gross or provide deductions for expenses incurred on education, health, security and basic utilities including drinking water – which is primarily state’s responsibility towards tax paying citizens and a basic Human Right.
