No words to describe this situation. I'm sad, angry, disappointed. Curious to see what was so important that this surprise action was needed.

I think what the JI Authority did to these shop owners is dirty, under handed and deplorable. I have lived on Jekyll Island since 1987 and have always been glad to have those shops‼️ The shop owners know a plethora of information about the history of Jekyll and add such a wonderful depth of welcoming folks to Jekyll Island. What else is to come from the new leader of the JIA??????? I realize that change is the only permanent element in life, but what the JIA did is under handed, despicable and downright DIRTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We must protect these small businesses at all cost. They are part of the heart of the historic district and bring joy to so many.

So much of the ambiance of the Island has changed over the past 20+ years. The Pier Road shops have endured because they fit with the quiet, nostalgic area of the Historic District. As a frequent visitor to the island, I enjoy the smaller shops and the owners/operators who have been there so long. If I want shiny, sparkly new, I can visit the other end of the island which is very much a resort now. At least give your current shop owners a chance to be part of anything in the future, but personally I feel this is about money. Don't change what is not broken. Visitors enjoy what is there now. Don't make Jekyll an island for only the super rich again. That would be a shame and shame on you. Surely there is a compromise.

Please reconsider keeping the shops! I would pay double or more to get on the island to keep the charm of the shops! Please stop the JIA from deleting our posts in protest!!!! There has been no freedom of speech. Please don’t turn Jekyll into Myrtle Beach!!!!!!

Ousting right during the biggest retail time of the year? So they have to be packing instead of selling their holiday inventory!! Bad call JIA.

Leave it be! What could you possibly do to improve the area. Shops are small and quaint with all the surrounding trees. You going to remove those to in the name of progress?

These small businesses helped shape the vibe for the historic areas on Jekyll Island. This seams like more land grabbing for large commercial entities. Jekyll Island has changed so much in the last 30 years and has started to lose it's warm and inviting nature just to be changed into another Brunswick or Jacksonville.

The shops in the Historic District are a large draw for many people. They offer one of a kind type gifts and jams and jellies. The thought of Jekyll without those shops is frankly unthinkable. Not to mention that amazing shop owners who are losing their livelihoods. Shame on JIA for taking those jobs away.

I am very disappointed in how this is happening to my parents and the other shops on Jekyll. It’s heartbreaking but the outpouring of support is greatly appreciated.
