I fail to see any positive results from this crazy plan.

Councils are being urged to accept Funding from the European Union, if so spend it on that where it is required Budleigh Salterton like many other towns around the county is on a list of change without reason, many other towns throughout the country have lost footfall since their roads were changed from two way -one way, many forced to close. Two way streets offer more exposure for local businesses because cars driving in both directions pass by their shopfronts. Two way streets also slow the cars, meaning drivers and passengers have more time to notice that which is in the windows of local shops. Two way streets encourage more foot traffic, feeling safer as pedestrians, access for the frail or disabled should all be taken into account, our Conservative councillor Keith Sparkes assisted in Fore Street, Topsham remaining as it is and has always been, instead of a road entertaining tables or market stalls for which a licence should be obtained, you chose to live in Budleigh Salterton , I imagine because of it being a small peaceful town, I doubt that many would find the street turned into an outdoor arcade acceptable.

This is not necessary and a waste of tax payers money. One way system not suitable and too long.

Totally agree with everything here. Always just popping in and parking in High Street or Brook Road etc. Why travel well over a mile further ..... adding to more vehicle use. Rubbish plan with no consultation or thought for the local population and businesses

What about the disable people who park to use the shops

The one way system would kill businesses. I stop most days (before lockdown) on my way back from work as so handy to pull up and pop into my local shop when tired, as it is quick and easy. This would change how easy that would be. Most visitors would take the diversion, and due to the blind spot at Upper Stoneborough area, turn left instead and go elsewhere. We have managed for years the way it is, so why change something that works? Also, we will get people driving fast up the high street as they are coming from the beach as they wil know it is one way ,and nothing coming in opposite direction...an accident waiting to happen as well as businesses going under.

This one way system is ridiculous and the town will completely fail and it is only getting on its feet. Older people will not be able to walk the distance from the car parks. I also have a bad problem with my leg this system is outrageous!

History has shown that having diversions or road works at the top of town kills custom. When custom has been cut due to Covid 19 already this year, this will be detrimental to all businesses in the town and to the livelihoods of those who own them.

If this one-way system and removal of car spaces in the High Street were to go ahead, it would without a doubt kill the trade in the town.

Why would you want to change it and make residents lives unbearable with more cars trying to take short cuts? You must look at the bigger picture and, please, don't be selfish.

I do not think this should happen

There’s no need for 1 way, as there’s plenty of pavement on both sides of the street

Outrageous waste of money, especially at this time. Why take away passing trade from another High Street.

This has not been thought through . The impact is not only on the immediate centre of town and the local businesses but in all residents. One of the plus points for so many is you can walk into the centre to do your shopping and frequent the local cafes, restaurants and shops. With this proposal you will be taking your life into your hands having to cross roads used as a race track by so many. This is a poorly thought out idea.

This will destroy the shops business in town. Already hit by corona virus and some businesses not made it. This is a horrible idea, especially at this present time. Let them build their businesses back up.

Why cant pedestrians just be one way? Up one side of the street and down the other so no one is passing each other?
