As we all know schools have shut down for the next three weeks due to COVID-19, better known as Coronavirus. Teachers will not have to proper amount of time to teach students of all grade levels the proper material needed to be successful on state testing. With a normal school year that deed is a difficult one. Being off an extra three weeks or possibly more does not allow students to show proper success or growth. If teachers and schools are graded on these test they will not have a fair shot. Teachers already struggle with students and attendance issues, home life and hunger with students. Schools and teachers should not be focused on state testing at this time. We should focus efforts in stopping this virus and finding ways to feed our hungry students. For these reasons the State needs to stop State Testing for the 2019-2020 school year from proceeding. It is the right thing to do for schools, teachers and the students across the state of Ohio.
