I was reading through some of the messages people sent in about their local rescues and it just makes my blood boil because the current laws are basically letting people get away with this stuff. It feels like we are shouting into a void sometimes but I know that if we keep hitting them with the reality of how these people operate they eventually have to look at us.

Please pass this law, I know state money is tight and some would just like to not put people behind bars for this reason but out of criminal acts you have to realize these animals need protection from abusers and they need a voice and maybe by my siging this petition I give one abused animal a voice.
It's high time for the abuse to end. I grew up in NY and witnessed boys putting firecrackers into cats ears and then set them on fire. The cops didn't do anything as no laws were being broken. Animals are like children and should be treated as such.
Cats & dogs are defenseless to the people who abuse them. They have feeling too just like humans. If there was stricter laws against animal abuse perhaps there wouldn't be as much abuse and maybe people would think twice about hurting a poor helpless animal. Please help them.
Torturing, abusing and neglecting living things who depend on human care is one of the worst examples of human cruelty. These are pets, not wild animals who are subject to nature's brutality, but companions for humans who have been bred specifically to be weak, kind, friendly and loyal to us. Allowing animal abuse is a horrific betrayal.
My animals are a part of my family and if anyone hurt them it would be like someone hurting my child and that is so wrong and unfair that they don't suffer the consequences for that. Animals are innocent beings and anyone who can hurt an animal could most likely hurt a person as well and need to be punished way more severely!!!

this issue has needed to be addressed for a long long time. I, as many do, work everyday rescuing animals. we need tougher laws. animal abuse and child abuse go hand in hand...how many serial killers started out killing animals.
