I have seen what a great game AM2R is, it truly feels like what a Metroid game should be like: creative boss battles (the ones with the Arachnus and the Chozo head were especially imaginative) and maze-like areas where its not always obvious where you´re supposed to go. More people deserve to have a chance to play this. Metroid 2 needed a serious remake anyway since its entire story is extremely relevant to the rest of the in the stories in the franchise ( like in Super and Fusion ). And I agree with most of what others have said here, like: . Work with your fans, not against them. Maybe even hiring them. . If Nintendo don´t wanna give their fans what they want, then the fans should have the chance to make what they wish for themselves. . And a fan work that is as great as or even better than the source material should be seen as very flattering. It might even help the franchise.

It make no sense for Nintendo to be so mean to their fans. Afterall, we are their customers and just because there are millions of us doesn't mean you can freely piss us off. People remember their hatred toward something more than any other emotion. This is not how any business should treat their fans

Nintendo technically doesn't even need to touch AM2R, it's a copyright, not a trademark, so they could just leave it alone. That, or they could ask DoctorM64 to sell the game on Virtual console. SEGA and pretty much every other company that has hired indie developers and fan game creators have proven that it's not a complicated process and it works.

Hell, even if you won't let this fan game contiune as is, I'd at least reccomend buying it from the guy. It could actually save Metroid.

Though I haven't played Pok. Uranium, I loved AM2R and would like to bring mention to a fan game called Pokemon Fusion Generations that also got cancelled by copyright strike. I highly recommend checking it out as I believe someone reposted a download link for it.

I'm very disappointed about how Nintendo handled this situation, despite the benefits that could have come from it. Nintendo should learn some PR methods from Sega their Sonic Mania project.

Nintendo needs to keep up with the times, they are not going to live on die-hard fans for much longer. The events after AM2R show this.

Nintendo should have respect, or whoever created the fan game, invite them to work with Nintendo.

It's really sad that Nintendo can't provide anything different than the usual franchises. That's why Wii U is failing and any further home console will fail. Keep alienating your fans Nintendo, you will do great as Capcom, Konami and Square-Enix.

Hey Nintendo, stop punishing creative software creators just because they can take what you thought was worthless and what people thought they didn't want to play and make it something amazing .

Basically Nintendo has been shooting themselves in the foot in an effort to cash-grab and bully their fans, and we've quite frankly had enough of it.

I hope that Nintendo gives AM2R a second chance because that was and is a very good Metroid game. That game makes me remember why I am a Metroid fan in the first place. If they are just going to leave the game for dead then to hell with them!

AM2R was a masterpiece on par with Super Metroid my favorite game (in my opinion), what you did is wrong and you know it please for the love of all your fans let AM2R go on. Also on a side note did you take it down because a remake out did your "Metroid" game if so not cool.

Nintendo, with the AM2R move, and with the release of a co-op shooter with the name "Metroid" unceremoniously slapped on, you have demonstrated that what I think of as "Metroid" is quite dead: you have no intention of creating and developing any more "explore the maze, defeat enemies, upgrade progressively" type games under the moniker that launched the genre - and you, apparently, wish the fan hunger for such titles would just die. Your attitude towards the fans you created is terrible, and you should feel deep shame for it.
