This wrong on a number of levels: safety- the island is a hazard waiting to happen Traffic flow: the island just slows the flow down. Infrastructure: Mickleover can not support the volume of extra people- schools, shops, parking, the village in general..
The proposal for the traffic island as the proposed access to the housing site has limited time-sample based surveys which do not provide an adequate picture of real life traffic flow, nor do they reflect genuine concerns about road safety.
I support all points raised. My biggest concern is mickleover school children who access this route to attend John port, many of whom cycle. A roundabout on such a busy road will provide many hazards to these youngsters .
I am a resident of Etwall and am concerned that more children will be siphoned in to John Port School which is currently at bursting point. That is before the proposed housing in Etwall itself is taken into account. This will inevitably lead to increased traffic which Etwall is unable to cope with.
I have already put forward to Derby City Council that all new developements in Mickleover, should be put on hold until the three authorities, covering the Mickleover area, get together to formulate, a joint plan to provide the neccessary services, Doctors, Schools, Shop, and public transport systems etc in place.
I am against the increased traffic, pollution, risk to the green belt, wildlife and vegetation, the destruction of this rural area that has been under the stewardship of Radbourne Hall. I am against the increased traffic on these rural roads. I propose building on brownfield sites that have the infrastructure more or less in place. I believe these decisions are opportunistic and not for the benefit of the area.

Mickleover cannot deal with these extra houses. The schools, doctors are full. The roads are already too busy and with The Radbourne lane site on line the facilities would not cope. This is on top of having Traffic lights on a busy bypass
