The environment is too fragile to continue expansive phosophate mining. Make mining more efficient and the public learn to do more with less.

Haven't you learned that phosphate mining isn't a good idea in Florida? Whatever happened to Lake Apopka anyway? Do it somewhere else.

I know we're up against a BILLLION dollar company here, but honestly.... NOT IN MY BACKYARD. They are literally POISONING us and destroying our ecosystem permanently. So yeah. It'd be cool if we could make them stop.

Phosphate mining is too risky to our surface and ground water to allow permitting of any new mining in Florida.

Phosphate mining is ruining Florida's delicate karst topography and aquifer. As corporations such as MOSAIC expand their operations in Manatee County, Manatee County should expect to experience sinkholes like the one that once again opened up in Mulberry in September 2016. It is spilling untold amounts of toxic waste into Florida's aquifer. MOSAIC wants to widen its operations in Manatee County by 4000 acres on the headwaters of the Myakka River, a watershed that serves the citizens and farmers of multiple counties. Putting an end to Big Phosphate operations begins at the local level. Find out who your county commissioners are who continue to approve mining permits and vote them out of office.
