Missouri State House Representative Dan Shaul (R), who is also the state director for the Missouri Grocer's Association, has issued the bill HCS HB 722 which states all merchants, itinerant vendors, and peddlers have the option to provide customers with a paper or plastic bag for any item or good purchased. No political subdivision can impose any ban, fee, or tax upon the use of paper or plastic bags for packaging any item or good purchased.

It sounds harmless however if this bill is passed that means plastic bags will continued to be manufactured, used, and discarded. Plastic bags are over used and will not decompose for at 20 years, they may even last up to a 1000's years. It is estimated that 1 TRILLION plastic bags are used and discard annual around the world. All across the Nation, cities have been banning plastic bags that are reeking havoc our ecosystems. Missourians must do our part. It's not enough to recycle these bags, we must completely stop using them so manufactures will stop producing them and make the Earth cleaner and more healthy for us and wildlife.

Missouri Bill HB 722 has already pass through the house please sign this petition to help stop this bill in its tracks.
