STOP MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY FROM TAKING IN STRAYS!

DETROIT....
DO NOT ALLOW MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY TO CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF DETROIT TO PICK UP &/OR HOUSE STRAY DETROIT DOGS IN THEIR FACILITY
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society located at 13569 Joseph Campau Ave, Detroit, MI 48212 needs a signed formal agreement with the city of Detroit on file with Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to be permitted to accept stray dogs in the city. Stray dogs are not only made up of homeless dogs but often times, they are owned dogs that are displaced from their owners for a variety of reasons.
By allowing Michigan Anti Cruelty Society to house stray dogs for the city, it greatly decreases the probability of dogs to be reunited to their owners.
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society has a return to owner rate of only 1% while other shelters in the city, such as DAC has, rates over 15%.
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society does not properly network animals to find their owners; they do not post them on their Facebook page, their website, or on the city run Facebook page -lost & found pets (Detroit)-.
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society kills 8 out of 10 dogs that enter their shelter. This is beyond unacceptable to be responsible for the lost pets of Detroit residents!
MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY HAS SHOWN THEY CANNOT ABIDE BY RULES SET FOR THEM:
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society has refused to keep their shelter up to the standards set forth by Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for over 6 years in a row. Over a year ago Michigan Anti Cruelty Society was ordered by the state to cease accepting stray animals until they have formal signed agreement on file; they never stopped.

MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY HAS ALREADY LIED TO THE CITY OF DETROIT -THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society lead the director of Detroit Animal Control, Melissa Miller to believe that their facility was located in Hamtramck to avoid reporting stray dogs to the city of Detroit. This charade went on for over a year until the truth was discovered by Director Miller.
JUNE 2017, director of Detroit Animal Control, Melissa Miller gave her verbal consent to Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for Michigan Anti Cruelty Society to be allowed to pick up, accept, and house stray animals in the city of Detroit PENDING the signed formal agreement that director Miller assured the state would be approved & available this fall (2017).
WE ARE URGING THE CITY OF DETROIT TO DENY THE REQUEST OF MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY TO PICK UP, ACCEPT, AND/OR HOUSE STRAY DOGS, AND TO CEASE THEIR STRAY INTAKE IMMEDIATELY.
Please email a letter to each Detroit City Council Member urging them to STOP Michigan Anti Cruelty Society from taking in stray dogs.
