I am against raising regressive taxes that hurt out local population. Any tax increases should be broadly based so that all residents in the city of Charlottesville share the burden. The restaurant business should not be targeted since very few of my customers are tourists. If the thinking goes that most of the tax increase will be paid for by tourists is sorely mistaken.

This is ludicrous. City council needs to take a better look at the wages that are being paid in this area before they try to shoot themselves in the foot by taxing patrons and local businesses. Not all of us have money to just burn. The local businesses are what is keeping this place afloat.
