You made the decision to allow our students to live off campus. They have signed leases, bought furniture, appliances and automobiles to transport them to and from school.. Your decision should grandfather the current students who have settled into life and are doing well in school. Your main role is to EDUCATE and not house. Your proposal is interfering with our children's education and causes stress that is not needed. Leave your seniors alone allow them to became adults and learning how to maintain a home is a needed skill. You will need to pay for leases and other expenses that we have incurred because of your original decision. Our students are learning how to be adults allow this to continue.

I can honestly say that my success at cal maritime was directly reallated to me living off campus. There is no way in hell I would have made it through school if I had to live at the school also.

Some of us students actually pay for our own tuition and housing, and you expect us to move back on campus and pay more? Limiting us to a place we can call home. Limiting us to start our lives and become financialy responsible.
How about the parking infrastructure?
How about the safety concerns?
How about those that actually have jobs/internships that require living closer to their occupation?
More importantly we are being forced to live In the same room as a student for 1100 a month TO SPLIT A ROOM. Where is the privacy? Where is the value? This is a robbery and YOU CAL MARITIME are forcing us students to pay for it? What about the vile meal plans we are forced to pay for? Where a single meal runs us over 11 dollars, but at home we can feed 2 for 7 dollars?
And you dare wonder why the dropout rates are so significant? Or why campus moral is so low? Why students DONT want to be here after their first couple months?You want to make this the campus you envision, then for once dont go against the students and treat us like HUMAN BEINGS and give us the same rights as every other CSU school.
I could go on, but im sure everyone else has covered everything I was already going to say.

At this point im not even surprised at the levels the current administration will stoop to. Requiring mandatory on campus stay as soon as 2018 while the only addition the school has made to living quarters has been the purchase of a known prostitution operation. This is only second to the fact that the president needs to prioritize building the licensed program back up as many senior faculty are on their way out.

Off campus living teaches the students how to live by managing their money and paying bills on time. It’s a good life leasson to prepare them for after they graduate. The school should be supporting this.

a large number of students are transfers and veterans, many of them would be adversely affected by new housing policies. Furthermore, this would adversely affect many students living locally. Please consider this.

Signing this petition following the completely unprofessional and unacceptable comments from Ms. Kimble. Living off-campus was important to my success at the school. Requiring students to live at the Motel 6 is both preposterous and dangerous.

Absolutely shameful response, there are perfectly valid reasons for students to protest being forced to live in a run down motel 6 alongside drug dealers and prostitutes rather than be given the opportunity to live off campus. Your knee jerk reaction to punish, rather than listen and respond to those who voice their concerns speaks volumes about your lack of character. And you have the gall to try and lecture students about honor and integrity? How about finding some yourself Kate?
