I/we the undersigned residents of Gilmer Park, Forest Park, Hartman Place, Swanson Heights and surrounding areas of “South Bend, IN 46614”. Sign below to agree or affirm that we do NOT support or agree to have our homes hooked up to city water, provided to us by the St. Joseph County Water Sewer District. We further more understand that the St. Joseph County Health Officer Dr. Thomas Felgar is concerned about the Nitrate levels in our wells. Our response to that is we do not want to pay expensive hook up cost and monthly fees to have water brought into us that is higher in Nitrates than what we have in our own homes now. (I.E…Erskin pumping station at last report was at 8.7 parts per million in Nitrates and some of our wells are at 5 parts per million or less.) Also a communication provided to South Bend residents show that the city water is currently coming in at 7.5 parts per million for Nitrates which we are being told by Dr. Felgar is dangerous to our health.

They ruined our neighborhood now they want more taxes...wish I could say that I am shocked but I am not!!
We have reached 225 signatures now. Finished up Yoder St yesterday. Heading for Hildebrand St is next. If you know of any one I have missed please let me know. We want to give everyone a chance to voice their opinion.

we live on Saint Joseph and my husband is v.p of the Forrest Park home association.. Anyone interested in speed bumps or stop signs should let us know...The traffic is obnoxious around here now..Any input on a petition for this issue would be appreciated!!

We have now reached 207 signatures between this petition and the paper petitions. We have walked and circulated flyers through all of Lucinda, Detroit, Pasadena, Gilmer, Pulling, Dice and have started the first block of Yoder St., Keep spreading the word. If someone comes around from Heartland Environmental, please make sure that a proper sample is taken.This company has been hired by INDOT, the city of South Bend and St. Joseph county. They are now saying that they need to run water tests claiming our water is now contaminated from when the McClure's gas station was torn down. They are trying to take water from an outside source. This is NOT the proper way to get an accurate reading of our ground water. Do NOT let them take an outside sample. My husband and I will be doing a proper sample for them. For a proper ground water sample you must run all of the faucets inside the home for 5 minutes, remove the screen from your main faucet, clean the inside of the faucet with an alcohol swab and then re run the water for another 5 minutes to remove any sort of contamination from the alcohol swab and then take a sample. Taking water from an outside source without the proper procedures will give inaccurate readings due to settling of particles in the pipes. I do not want them to force us all to tap on to city water (at our cost) because of their negligence.

I live on Johnson and was required to give up a large portion of my yard. I should not be required to give them anything else. My water was testing in the last 3 months and is all well within normal ranges.
