As a senior citizen my heart bleeds to see the destruction of Dore Lake, Sled Lake and Smoothstone Lake forests and animal and bird habitats. Why can't we live our senior years amidst beauty, not destruction of trees and even sludge in our lakes and steams. Yes, I'll also add our unsafe narrow road. We have people of all ages coming here to fish, hunt, go ATVing, skidooing, walking and skiing. Others with cabins intening to retire in their old age to the place where time stands still. Yes, some young people come hoping to operate a small sawmill, trap, commercial fish or hire on with the fishing and hunting resorts here which are also being pushed by lack of forest and game. There's so much history here. Old fur trade routes north, south, east and west. Yes, graves, too--how was one going to deliver a body to a distant site when they only had their own legs to carry them. Names of trappers, fish buyers, fishing people, hundreds of sawmills and stopping places for teams freighting fish and groceries to the outside world and back are registered forever by people referring to bays, old trails, sites etc by these old familiar names. Is nothing sacred anymore?? It is to us that live here and our descendants and people far and wide who enjoy visiting here and yes, maybe living. Don't let the cry of the loon be only a memory.

I was born on Michel Point eighty one years ago. My mom's nurse was Mrs Frederickson from Smith Bay. Life on the Point was a series of adventures--trapping--hunting. When I was ten I shot a bear with a 22 where Ken Steinhauer's cabin is now. It was my world except for the school years I spent in Prince Albert. A little known fact is that my dad--with hired men and horses--a flip scraper and fresno and yes, picks and shovels--dug a ditch and drained what is now called "Al's Lake" (Al Neufelt's sawmill). The ditch was dug through an eight foot seawall and allowed the small lake to drain out towards East Bay. Thus creating a huge hay meadow that fed our cattle and horses and freight teams coming from Beauval and Big River. It was truely an engineering feat the trench remains are still visible. I left the Point when I was seventeen and eventually settle in South Bay where I mink ranched, commercial fished and ran a sawmill. I am now retired. Yes, my way of life is gone forever from Tower Beach and Michel Point, but please leave the forest for future old and young to explore and enjoy. There are too few natural habitats left. There can be life and income without the total destruction. I made a living with my small sawmill, using selective logging and others could also. Please leave Tower Hill and Michel Point intact so I can look and remember and my grandchildren can explore and say, "Hey, my grampa probably climbed this old tree".

It is a beautiful, natural place and am horrified to hear that Sakaw is seeking approval to log 90-95% of the trees which would destroy the beautiful country along the Michel Point Road. Please save some beauty for the local and visitors.

As both a Canadian and American citizen who brings tourism dollars into Saskatchewan it is dissapoint to hear about the proposed clear cutting in this pristine area that has some of the best fishing lakes in Canada. My hope is that the logging can be stopped or atleast done more selectively (as opposed to removing 90-95% of the trees and vegetation). Please keep this special place pristine for people like me who love to bring tourism dollars to your great province and the amazingly beautiful and productive Dore Lake area. I hope we can do something about this they've logged out the entire road up to Dore lake and it's disgusting not the beautiful scenery we used to see driving up there
