We are very concerned on the proposal of logging within the Michel Point Area, we invested in this area to preserve and enjoy the untouched beauty "our God" created!

With all the forest to cut, surely the part that make Dore Lake beautiful can be spared. We are not asking that no trees are take, only not to ruin the who area.

There is no need to cut trees in areas that have residents and recreational usersnot to mention businesses that rely on nature being natural and beatiful. There are plenty of trees that can be harvested in remote areas . And they can build their own roads to complete logging. Public roads should be kept in good shape. Their is no reason why they can't build their own roads like they do in BC. With the price of lumber being so cheap they could certainly raise the price to support their own roads.and replant the area.

Dore Lake has been a part of my life since I was a baby. For this to happen will be terrible. My family has been going up to Dore Lake for years. This lake has become a place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the big city. It has also been a place for me to photograph, film, and show the beauty of Dore Lake. If this happens there will be nothing to photograph or film. The animals will go away and what was once a serene place will now be empty, barren, and devoid of life. The following are some notes regarding some of the concerns about the proposed logging of Michel Point, Dore Lake, SK. Roger and Cheryl Epp and five of our children have lived at Michele Point, Dore Lake for fifteen years. We have all enjoyed the secluded and scenic beauty. This beautiful forest is scheduled to be clear cut logged. We would like Michel Point left untouched as a tourist and wildlife refuge. As a community we do a lot of quad and snow mobile rallies down the 120 miles of trails in and around Dore Lake. Many of these trails are historic trails dating back over 100 years. Tourism, ecotourism, outfitting, commercial fishing, and trapping are a way of life for many northerners. The logging that has already been done in this area has permanently damaged the boreal forest and many of the historical trails have been destroyed. There is much concern about the threat of the ground washing into creeks and into the lake and therefore having a detrimental effect on future fishing. There is a historical trail which goes along the north side of Michel Point from the tip of the point all the way to South Bay. This trail cannot be disturbed. At the meeting held at the Town Hall on Jan 19, 2015 concern was raised regarding logs being hauled out on our existing road. Later during the break I overheard one of the facilitators say that they would not need to use the road leading to Michel Point for hauling as they were going to build their own road for that. There has been much work, including the installation of large culverts, on the north side of the Dore Highway 924 at kilometer 52. If you look at this area on Google Earth you can see that they can log and haul from this road and we would not even see what they were doing as they can log all the way up to Tower Beach from this entrance. They could also connect to the Old Dore Road from this entrance in about a kilometer. The damage caused by logging in and around this very delicate part of the lake would b

Michel Point is my home. It is laden with beautiful historical trails, nature walks, stunning views, and a peaceful network of cabin communities. Destruction of the forest on Michel Point would be harmful to business owners, tourists, residents, and cabin owners. This is a pristine, remote area of the Boreal Forest, and there is no logical reason why Sakaw needs to target this area specifically. There is plenty of forest out there that doesn't come within 1km of a remote community.

Dore Lake, and the Michel Point area, is a very special place to so many people. One unique feature it has is the seclusion which could be lost with this change to the Cutzone. As well, the road conditions will become especially abysmal with the logging trucks using them making is less safe for everyone involved.

One has to wonder... 5.3 million hectares are classified as productive forest lands that generate an annual allowable cut of 8.2 million cubic metres of logs. If these figures are correct, what is the minister (or his designate underling) responsible for issuing cut permits doing to intervene in the destruction of a meagre 60 sq. km.'s of pristine beauty at Dore Lake? This small portion of boreal forest holds historical, eco-sensitive and recreational value and importance. But, what do I know... maybe the timber royalties paid to the crown for a relatively few cubic metres of logs are vital to the prosperity of the province.
