STOP INDIAN SCHOOLS from taking donations!
Today for each child to get a admission in a private school in India, Parents are required to pay heavy sums as "donations" to the schools. Government schools are not prefered, as they are known to have very bad conditions and teaching is very poor along with unhygienic conditions, so most parents need to opt for private rather than a government school. These donations can range from Rs.30000-500000 ( USD 4000-6500) This plays a huge role as about 20% of indian population in under the poverty line and many more are struggling just above it. Many parents are reluctant to change schools as they don't want pay huge sums of money. The average fees of Indian schools per 3 months is about rs.25000 (USD 300) and donations are nearly 10 times the school admission. As per Right to education act 2009 this should not be practiced but still happens in every school today. Due to this many schools gain a confidence that there students wont opt out the school and slowly the teaching and condition of the schools gets worse by the day. Most indian schools don't even have basic air conditioning. Government schools are currently not an option so students are stuck in the same school. Indian students, 90% of them study with extra classes at home with tutors paying about rs.6000 (USD) every month for their child to get good grades when that is the job of their school. by this we can see how bad the teaching standards are of these schools. WHY do we have to pay so much, when we should get this by the government ? either the government should hike up the conditions of the government schools or take care of this "donations" issue among the private schools in india because the teachings standards are getting worse and parents are needed to pay more and more each day just as donations which should be optional or their child wont get a seat in the school. sign this petition and start a protest against this as we deserve better education.
