Stop Income Testing for Supports for Permanency

Some of us have adopted and live on pensions! We want our kids to have the best lives they can! We love our kids by birth or not!even ones we foster and who leave our homes never leave our hearts!

Thank you to the organizers of this petition.

If the government needs to cut funding my suggestion would be to start with politicians.

I agree with this petition

I am horrified at how this government seems to be targeting, disabled children/people, people living on the poverty line and of course Fostercare and adoptions, the vulnerable? is that because they need to be educated on the living experience or is it because they believe we have no say?

This isn’t right. If you don’t have experience you need to find those with the information you do not have consultations are needed with stakeholders!! Unacceptable to make a rule and decision on things they clearly don’t know. Educated and reevaluate!!

Disgusting and shameful. How on earth are vulnerable kids going to be adopted if adults don't get help to support them.

As an adoptive parent, this move makes no sense to me… essentially leaving the extra support up to new parents who don’t have the tools, yet. Regardless of income - the parents need the tools to support these kids, and the kids need the supports.

While the income threshold seems like "a lot", it isn't when you consider the impact of being in the foster care system. This money helps to keep the cycle from repeating.

This is not right Do your job and we will do ours This is a new low even for you the government

I have 2 adopted grandchildren who depend on this financial support to improve their ability to succeed in life..

This ill thought out change of policy is negatively impacting potential adoptive families and families who chose to adopt with a firm promise of support until thier child reach adulthood.

Stop being so selfish the money isn’t coming out of your your pocket

I have PG of my daughter. Without these supports I would not have been able to offer her permanency. I have 2 other children in my care that I can’t offer permanency to because of inconsistency in the system.

This is absurd to require people to send in sensitive documents to a system already making us work so hard to get anything from. If you want the system to work, you need to support families.

Please, no!

It is necessary to stop what will greatly impact children that needs help. We cannot leave children that leave foster care without the needed survival support.

With the costs of outside support for these children, this income cap is insulting.

Without the stipend, you are asking us to pay for another’s mistakes in judgement. Without this stipend, I cannot afford to raise someone else’s children.

Fewer children will find permanent homes. They deserve better.
