It is disgusting how COJ conducts itself in these matters. Lay down the law with yourselves and then the developers. No wonder good citizenry is no longer existent if this is how the leadership sets an example

The city should apply all its own and national laws. Putting the environment first will be to the financial benefit of the City.

Development needs to be stopped and reviewed for Midrand. It is not sustainable and is causing serious damage to the environment It is time that the City listens to and respects its citizens. This should not be allowed as it is destroying a natural habitat

Our environment is suffering. Developers are known for greed and only care about lining their pockets. They JUST DON'T CARE about the environment. They say housing developments help the environment - that is just RUBBISH!! They do not! Just one tree, just one wetland, just one house, just one development, but multiply that by 10, 20 or 30 and quickly we have destroyed huge amounts of habitat for owls, mongoose, and hundreds of birds, reptiles and other animals. This is ridiculous we have to put our foot down and say NO! NO! NO!

Our wonderful wildlife are being squeezed out everyday by development, let’s try and help more by better controls, more “sympathetic” town planning and just appreciation of what we have and will surely lose. Our children should have the opportunities to see our wildlife in years to come.

The attitude of the COJ and the Democratic Alliance towards unsuitable and unsustainable development in Kyalami is bizarre and quite frankly disturbing.

I have been a resident in Beaulieu for three years. I live opposite the bird sanctuary and 200m from where the digging is currently happening. Twice in the last eighteen months the sanctuary has been filled with sewerage as a result of illegal development, resulting in a health hazard for humans. The bird population has never recovered.
