Iceland is one of the very few countries that continues the barbaric practice of whale hunting. These beautiful and peaceful creatures are subjected to a slow and painful death.
Iceland has done a fantastic job in the past few years campaigning for tourism and it has become THE place to be. Tourism is booming! American tourists alone last year outnumbered the total population of the native Icelandic people.
And it is essentially only tourists who are consuming whale meat, thinking they are eating a traditional Icelandic dish. So the rise in tourism has caused the rise in these horrific whale hunts.
Tell Iceland, "No, thank you!!!!" We will not have the blood of whales on our hands!

I spent all morning reading through the stories people are leaving in the comments and my heart is just heavy because tourists really have no idea what they are actually participating in when they order that dish. It feels like the more I look into the numbers of ships going out the more I realize this is about changing the market itself, and honestly I am just typing this while staring at the ocean thinking about how different things could be if people just stopped buying it.

I never thought this would blow up like this but seeing the momentum build makes me feel like we might actually shift the tide on these hunts. People are finally waking up to the connection between their vacation choices and what is happening out in the ocean which is honestly such a massive relief to see.

Had no idea Iceland still hunts whales. Thank you for bringing this horrific practice of Iceland's to our attention. I was going to plan a trip this year to Iceland, but now am rethinking that idea.

I was saving up to go to Iceland for my honeymoon but absolutely not anymore. I cant support a country that thinks killing whales for tourists is okay.
