I am the gramma of 2 boys attending ACSD, watching them on the off days helping them with their on-line lessons. This is not education, its busy work. The children need to be in class full time. They deserve a full in class 5 days a week education in which my tax dollars are supposedly going to.

I am a mother of two boys who are elementary & preschool aged. Both my husband & myself work full time jobs, vote & pay taxes. We are essential front line workers in healthcare & agriculture. We have lost many hours of work & incurred an increase in child care cost due to decisions made out of fear by our school board. Decisions made because fear & politics are more important to the school board than facts about SARS Covid 19 & the mental well being of our children. Education is also essential & can be done safely. Many other schools have displayed this already. I mentioned above I work in healthcare taking care of patients. Myself my family and my coworkers have not contracted Covid 19 because proper hygiene and PPE allows us to stay safe. We can open school fully and safely. Our virtual learning experience so far has been slides from google and take home packets. My children often are frustrated and overwhelmed trying to navigate virtual learning. Learning is directed by parents as there is no "Virtual Learning" taking place just remote learning. Currently our child care cost went from $375/mo for before and after school care to $400/wk plus lost hours of work so we can provide transportation to school as this is not available anymore due to reduced hours at the school. I will be voting, I will be heard and I will make sure my children thrive because our school board has shown they truly do not advocate for the people of Ankeny.

Our children need to be in school 5 days - hybrid is not working with the 2.5 days every other week schedule! To the 4 school board members who voted against the 5 day plan, let the parents decide what is best for their children. If you don’t want your children in school, there is the 100% home option. The current hybrid doesn’t work for working parents, such as myself and husband, who have been working everyday through the pandemic. Ankeny students deserve better!

We have switched from Ankeny public school to a private school this year. Our kids are back full time and loving it! We are so happy we decided to switch them this year. All kids deserve to have the option to go back to school full time. I’m hoping and praying all these kids can go back full time soon.

Covid-19 is an average cold virus that has been “weaponized” by those who want to influence the US elections through fear and ignorance: destroying the economy, preventing rallies, and catastrophically disrupting lives...all in the hopes of making people angry enough to vote against the current US President. Our children have been used as pawns in this outrageous effort. The ACSD and Ankeny School Board have willfully shunned science, CDC guidelines and the opinions of >90% of Ankeny parents. When history finally shows the truth of this “pandemic” hoax, those who knowingly promulgated this outrageous lie will be held accountable for their actions.
