I operated and worked a quality private day care for many years. Minimum wage ... or at times less. Invest. Have vision. Your decision today will be reflected in our future.

As a daycare owner, I am on the floor with the kids 8-9 hours a day. I will need to close, I will need to go work for someone else.

Daycares are structured around this income. They've had it since 2001 and to have it just cut out with one months notice is unacceptable! Daycare owners will suffer because of this and the quality of the programs will suffer as they will have to cut a bunch of things to compensate. Rates will rise and parents will have to pay more. Soon we will have 2 in daycare and already were wondering how we will ever afford it! If rates rise, then what's the point in going back to work!!???

I am so dismayed by this decision. The other thing that causes me dismay is the public perception by some that daycare owner/operators of "for profit" Early Childhood Education Centers are making big profits. It is an assumption so far from the truth. I went into this business knowing that if I did a good job of providing a quality educational center, I'd be just making a living, never getting rich. But I believe that children deserve to nor only have a safe and loving environment in which to grow but one that allows them to flourish socially, emotionally and intellectually so I proceeded to become not only an Early Childhood Educator with a passion for the profession, but an entrepreneur ready to be a contributor to New Brunswick's work force. What a mistake, while I still love and value what I do, I had no idea it would be 14 years of struggling with finances just to come to this. My books are open to whoever thinks I'm profiting from this business.

I made the decision 3 years ago to stay home because of the cost of childcare... making it even less affordable means I cannot return to work when I was hoping too because I won't be able to afford it! This is ridiculous! make cuts where you need to make cuts. but don't make the families in your province suffer financially!

I am very shocked at this decision and feel it is unfair and is going to affect the people who are already struggling to make it work financially. They sent an email to inform the operators. They didn't give any notice. What about the facilities budget etc. There has to be a better way.

If only there was a way to ensure politicians were accountable to their platform promises.

Please don't take away the funding for the daycare's This will make it harder for families that struggle with an all-ready tight budget..This will be so hard on many people who are trying to make a living.. The people who provide the service should not have to suffer, they deserve to get paid too..

Please stop making NB a less desirable place to live.

You should be helping families stay in New Brunswick not forcing them to have to leave!

Why do they want to make working families suffer??? Are they trying to force people to quit their jobs and go on welfare???

More poor choices by the NB Government. No wonder families are leaving NB. This needs to stop!

This will take daycare possibilities away from a lot if families when children are supposed to be prepared for kindergarten, but just think when they get to school they will all have their own school bus! This is totally wrong on all accounts.

My childcare costs are already very high. I simply cannot afford raised prices.

Cut backs like these directly impact child care and the safe and engaging environments they are in when their parents are at work.
