Despite living nearly 600 miles from my birth place, I am appalled at what I am reading regards some of the ludicrous decisions being enforced upon the town. This is truly one too far.

I cant believe they want to move butcher man I have lived here since 1972 and I worked on that street and passed him everyday so NO do not MOVE

There are so many things that need improving in the city centre - this is NOT one of them. The pavement is wide, the butcher figure is at a diagonal to it.
It's one of the things that adds some individuality to the city centre and stops it looking like Anytown Anywhere.

Ridiculous!!!! They can spend money on a stupid bridge that isn't needed and spend time and man hours on getting rid of this iconic statue !! Why do we have the council again?? Oh yes to waste time and money!!!!

I actually wonder when locals who aspire to become councillors turn suddenly and become absolute morons? Why all of a sudden does an icon in the town centres make up become a problem? An excuse to eke a stealth tax on local businesses. And in this instance a business that has existed for a long time. The butcher brightens up a dull street and should be seen as an attraction to not just the locals but tourists too. It appears to be a councillor these days is to remove all of the common sense they were born with!
