This is a planned community that requires permission to put up a fence in your back yard, but will allow non-residents to build a cell tower?

My concerns are listed in the petition. Please reconsider the placement of the cell tower to a place where middle school and high school boys won't have as easy access.

I feel that this cell tower will devalue our property, plus being this close to schools is absolutely absurd, there are plenty other places within a mile of this location that would work. I can promise you this that any commissioner that votes for this probably does not live here and definitely will not receive my vote for re-election.

While I think it's great that Verizon will give money to the CCBOE, I don't want that at the risk of my children's safety.

There are differing opinions on that subject, however, the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 does not allow health concerns to be a reason for denying a cell tower.

Yes, the school system gets paid for leasing the property to the tower builder.

Please find an alternate place for cell tower. It will be a temptation for teenagers to climb and it will be a matter of time before someone would get hurt.

Unsafe with all the kids around and worried about value of our homes, is the school profiting from this?? Not sure why people see this as a good idea!

Keep this petition going! It is great to see so many signatures and so many comments. If you feel strongly about this please contact our local House Representative Jodi Lott, our District County Commissioner, Gary Richardson, who will be voting on this on May 17th, and Michael Sleeper our District 3 Board of Education Representative. Riverwood HOA will have a meeting to discuss the cell tower on May 10th at 6:30 p.m. which will be held at the Riverwood Clubhouse located at 5123 Riverwood Parkway within the Riverwood community. On May 17th our Columbia County Commissioners will vote on this. The meeting is at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium of Building A at the Evans Government Center Complex at 630 Ronald Reagan Drive. If you would like to speak at this meeting you need to submit the following form into the clerks office http://www.columbiacountyga.gov/home/showdocument?id=12539.
It is great to see how our community is coming together. Please continue to spread the word, get people to sign our petition and share your concerns.

Not to mention the poor health effects of residing close to cell phone towers.... I hope they find an alternate place for this.
