Who thought this was a good idea?! Did no one think of the people and their homes?

I have enjoyed this part of the country all my life and just moved out there a week ago...then I hear this! No one wants to lose their land and livelihood so someone else can make a profit!!

I have been fighting this railroad since they wanted it in Boone County. Then they move it to were my family farm in Shirland. Everyone is against it in the area.

This route is unacceptable. It will destroy family farms and agricultural businesses. It is planned to go through a campground and a limestone quarry and through protected wetlands. It will divide farmland, making it no longer profitable or feasible to farm. This project only considers the supposed need for a new rail system. It doesn't take in consideration the needs of the people who own the property Great Lakes wants to overtake.

From the structure of this company and the fact that they have no experience in railroads. To the fact that no Railroad has said they would use it(Up and NS have said they will definitely not). If you look into it , the cost and burden will be on all taxpayers, a few will make large sums of money. There is no public benefit!

This is unacceptable. It is terrible for the community, environment, and the generations of farmers that have provided for the country year after year. You cannot force residents to just give up the life they have known for a life you want them to have. I oppose this new route and any other route for that matter.

The current route crosses gas and fuel lines underground. Any spills would lead back to Rockriver. Vehicle crossing on Montague would be over a blind uphill street.
