Stop Google Hangouts Automated Animated Emoji

With this petition, I'd like to get Google's attention. I'd like them to pay attention to the sea of Google Hangouts users that find it totally unacceptable to have automated, animated emoji pop up in their chat windows when "haha" (and a whole list of other "hot" words) is typed, with no way of turning it off.
Seriously. Why can't we just turn it off? Maybe Google is unaware, but adults use their products. Some adults conduct business with their products. This isn't MSN Messenger or AIM.
We aren't even asking you to completely remove this nuisance (referring to it as a "feature" gives it too much credit). We just want to be able to turn it off. Not everyone use emoji or emoticons or whatever the heck they're referred to.
So, Google, please stop being pathetic and immature and let us turn this garbage off. I don't want to continue to use a third-party service (yes, I've abandoned Hangouts entirely until this is fixed). I want to use Hangouts. I want that seamless integration with Android and Chrome that you guys do so damn well.
