We the undersigned, believe that despite best efforts from members of the NUS LGBT Campaign, that the Stonewall Gay By Degree initiative is not only inaccurate at best but also discriminatory towards those who self define as Trans. We understand that Stonewall is currently unable to campaign on Trans issues, however this should not allow them to ignore the fact that most LGBT Societies do campaign on these issues.We also believe that for new institutions where there may have been no LGBT Society or where one is starting to get off the ground this actually negatively impacts upon the institution and gives a bad impression for prospective students wishing to apply. We call on Stonewall to work more closely with the NUS LGBT Campaign to address these issues and ensure that information is more accurately by actually consulting with students at these institutions.
