The school finally decided to change how they calculate our grades. I am completely stunned that this worked but it happened because so many of you stepped up to back this change. Please keep an eye on your next report cards to ensure the new method is actually being followed.

We want a combination of CAT grades, class work and homework to mixed to give a report grade. One CAT doesn't represent our attainment for the entire term and is unnecessary pressure, especially as we still get homework. Sign if you agree.

I have been reading your messages about how much stress these assessments cause and it is clear that I am not alone in feeling this way. It is humbling to see that so many people care about this issue enough to speak up. I am reaching out to the school administration to see if we can open a dialogue about a fairer way to grade our work.

Let's Simplify it. Good/Bad in class + Bad in Test = Bad Result Good/Bad in class + good in test = Good result. Suddenly all the work you have done does not matter.

Our grade should be based on our class work because anyone can not listen in class and then revise for the test and do really well but this does not reflect the individual's ability to work.

I totally agree, it's putting way too much stress on us, plus my recent grades (which weren't as good as what I'd normally expect) have lowered my self esteem

I think we shouldn't put your CAT results on our report as we may not understand a topic or generally panic in a test and then won't do so well but a report is supposed to show how much progress you have made!

I definitely agree. It is too much pressure, too much work at once and, especially, as teachers are not allowed to set the same type of task in consecutive terms it does nothing to actually measure our progress.

This is what predicted grades are for... people are doing CATs for the sake of it and it adds too much pressure and distracts from our other work
