Proposed Flying J Truck Stop Written to Mr. Jose Larra, SF County The new Cerrillos/I 25 interchange is stupidly designed, and the additional influx of heavy truck traffic will only make this interchange even more dangerous than it is currently. Water usage of proposed Flying J and its satellite fast food shops will further strain Santa Fe's chronically stressed water supply. Huge signs and glaring lights from dusk to dawn will degrade whatever semblance remains of our nighttime skies. Hundreds of trucks with constantly running engines will lead to a mega increase in air pollution. Truck stops attract sex trafficking, drug dealing, criminals and should surely not be sited in or near quiet residential neighborhoods. Santa Fe does not need more fast food outlets. To trade such an eye and ear sore for a promise of 80 low-paying jobs would be a terrible trade-off. We do not care that taxes Flying J would pay may be attractive to some legislators who are supposed to work for the common good of our residents. A Flying J truck stop at the proposed Santa Fe location would be a malignant blight on everything area residents cherish about living here, immediately lowering the property values of Rancho Viejo and its environs.

I don't see the need for a truck stop at this location. There are other places for truckers to stop north of Albuquerque. Santa Fe has an important tourism business. Every buildout that creates an eyesore along the highway such as a large truck stop or commercial enterprises, such as gravel conflict with Santa Fe's attractions. Businesses that do not retain the corridors into and out of Santa Fe as inviting and scenic violate a major revenue source.

No need for a truck stop here in Santa Fe. There are plenty of gas stops, convenience stores and motels already in town.
