Rockaway does not need another homeless shelter, especially one run by an organization that shelters those cases thrown out of other shelters for "non-compliance!" Rockaway has been getting dumped on by NYC Government since the days of Robert Moses! Give us a break!

Enough is enough! We have absorbed over the years more than our fair share of shelters, half way houses and rehab centers from one end of the peninsula to the other. Please find an alternative location where these people that need help can actually get help instead of being dumped into a warehouse with no promise of bettering themselves. As it stands, this location offers no jobs, no hospital in immediate area and very limited transportation options.

It seems like a never ending battle . Why just why does Rockaway ALWAYS have to do more than it’s fair share. We have enough going on here since Super Storm Sandy and still have not fullly recoverd from that yet. A homeless shelter for 120 men not fair to us and not fair to them. This is not the place to build it not at all! It seems the Mayor the City really wants this Peninsula to actually go under. Instead of a shelter how about a nice recreation center for the youth of Rockaway they can surely use it.

Rockaway has enough burdens to deal with nursing homes and crime around ! In normal world beautiful location like Rockaway would be cherished by city government as a money maker from tourists and hotels ( close to JFK).

We’ve absorbed way more than our fair share. In fact, this is an unfair share of the city’s burden, given the size of this community. We will always fight, but why must the city continue to destroy what could be a jewel it it’s crown?

Rockaway is starting to finally be what it should be the magnificent beachfront neighborhood it is by bringing in the homeless you trying to go back to the 70s when no one wanted out Rockaway

This is a horrible idea. Stop dumping on Rockaway. Open a shelter somewhere that the tenants can get jobs . Rockaway residents have problems getting jobs. There is nothing here for them it will lead to problems!
