Stop Dublin Port from turning away cruise ships from 2021 and turning away international cruise companies who want to call Dublin a home port.

As a tour guide living and working in Ireland for the last 19 years I have seen the tourism industry grow and flourish in Ireland and in Dublin. Cruise ships are a big part of this and they provide a way to experience Ireland for well over a million visitors every year. Not just Dublin, but ports like Derry, Belfast, Killybegs, Galway, Bantry, Dingle, Valentia, Glengarrif, Cobh, Ringaskiddy, Cork, Waterford and Rosslare are also used to show tourists this beautiful country. The decision by Dublin Port Authority to restrict the number of cruise ships berthing in Dublin will not just impact on Dublin, but on tourism in Ireland everywhere. Tourism is a huge industry for Ireland with more than 11 million visitors to Ireland last year. They generate €7 billion in revenue for Ireland. Restricting cruise ship visits to Dublin will not only limit the number of tourists arriving to Ireland in 2019, but it will also impact on other ports as Ireland might be removed from the itinerary of cruise companies altogether. Given that many tourists that visit Ireland on cruise ships come back, but also inform others in their home country of their positive experiences in Ireland, this restriction will have a serious impact on Ireland not just in 2019, but in years to come as well. We need to do all we can to assure there will be no restrictions on the number of cruise ships berthing in Dublin or elsewhere on the island of Ireland.

Please please do not limit cruise ships!

Dublin Port please reverse your autocratic plan to restrict cruise ship coming to Dublin in 2021. For Gods sake help to GROW the cruise ship business not restrict it.

Please do not curtail number of cruise liners into Dublin Port. We need all the tourists we can get.
