After a recent visit at my local Dogtopia, my pup came home with injuries sustained during her time there. Her head was swelling up, she had bloody discharge coming from her eye and abrasions around her head and face. The facility never contacted my partner or myself to report that she was involved in an incident, we are not aware of how long the incident lasted, nor do we know if the dogs involved were separated after my pet was injured. In fact, the owner of Dogtopia was running the front desk when I came to pick her up and "forgot" to mention the incident at that time as well, but surely remembered to advertise a membership and pictures.

I realized her injuries as I was getting her out of the car when we got home. After securing an emergency vet appointment I called Dogtopia to inquire about what happened, why my spouse and I weren't contacted or notified in any capacity, and address staffing concerns. I was met with disingenuous responses about how dogs have "teeth and claws" and that these things happen. When the issue of staffing came up, I was told that they are staffed appropriately according to "Dogtopia standard" (whatever that means). I was also made aware that since the other dog involved was not injured, they chose not to inform their owners of the incident.

At this point I shared my experience on social media platform on my personal page as well as a community one and came to realize that many people within the community had similar experiences. It is clear to me that this establishment cares more about it's profit margins than the well being of the lives that are under it's care.

These practices are unacceptable and something needs to be done.
