This discrimination we suffer is totally ridiculous.. External staff working for years in the same building even longer than officials are considered a thread to.. who? Oh and of course you have to pass your metallic items through security and then you can enter in the canteen where the knives are made of plastic, right?

Or they scan everyone or they dont!
The blue badges can be also a danger for us.

Yes you need to remove the belt, but can keep your watch and glasses, even metallic and even if they ring the bell. Very logical, isn’t it? And why are trainees (having a blue badge) in EP, only there occasionally, not going through the same security check?
Also, external stuff cannot buy a bottle of alcohol in the internal shop, to bring home after work, and go with it inside the institution. But officials can! And you can buy a glass of wine or beer for lunch in the internal canteen, so it is certainly not about alcolism prevention! Or is it? Perhaps some categories are allowed to consume, and other are not!

Since I’ve worked in Parliament for 21 years as a consultant, security has evolved. Okay with the gate checks, but the belt story is ridiculous. So when will the shoes be removed?

The strength of a security chain depend on it's weaker link.
You cannot control some people and not others. It's humiliating and against any basic notion of security.

Working here since almost 14 years and still more dangerous than 6 months trainees. That's absolutely logical.

I agree. Security in the EP buildings is a joke because of this discrimination. As I'm used to say, if you want to enter illegally in the building, print a blue card... I really don't understand DG Safe decisions.

Fully agree! Everybody or nobody under the metal detectors.
